American channel Lifetime has announced the upcoming broadcast of a film focusing on the romance between a pop star and a professional footballer.
The couple formed by Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, who have been driving the celebrity press wild for over a year, will soon be making headlines on Lifetime. The American channel has announced a new TV movie whose plot is very clearly inspired by the meeting between the singer and the American football player.
According to a synopsis revealed by People magazine, this film scheduled for this year and titled Christmas in the Spotlight (“Christmas in the Spotlight”) will follow Bowyn, “a famous and popular artist who, despite constantly singing songs about love and relationships, has yet to find the man of her dreams.”
Meeting at a concert
It was then that she crossed paths with Drew, a professional football player, when he visited her in her dressing room after a concert to which he was accompanying his niece. When Drew “publicly announced that he had fallen in love with Bowyn, they decided to date.”
But trouble is brewing: “The public is beginning to wonder whether their feelings for each other are genuine or a marketing ploy. The pressure is mounting, from the press, the paparazzi, their fans and even their families.”
“The couple will have until the end of the holiday season to decide whether or not they want to stay together.”
The lead roles will be played by Laith Wallschleger and Jessica Lord. The latter shared the news on her own Instagram account: “This is by far one of the funniest roles I’ve ever had the honor of playing,” she wrote. “I can’t wait for you to meet Bowyn!”
Obvious similarities
This summary has many similarities with the romance between Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. Like the character in the film, the 34-year-old American pop star is known for her lyrics focused on romantic relationships. Moreover, her story with Travis Kelce began when he revealed in his podcast that he had attended one of his Eras Tour and tried to give him his phone number, without success, in the summer of 2023.
Subsequently, the singer attended many of the athlete’s matches, making their romance public. And as in the upcoming film, the authenticity of their love story is regularly questioned. Conspiracy theories suggest that their relationship was fabricated to undermine Donald Trump’s candidacy for the American presidency.
The American channel Lifetime, a major producer of B-movie TV movies inspired by celebrities, has already devoted feature films to the careers of Britney Spears, Aaliyah and Whitney Houston. In 2018, it broadcast a film inspired by the love story between Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.
