Dierendonck, Filigranes, Yves Matagne… to revive the Galerie Bortier, a little-known gem in the centre of Brussels
Dierendonck,
      Filigranes,
      Yves
      Matagne…
      to
      revive
      the
      Galerie
      Bortier,
      a
      little-known
      gem
      in
      the
      centre
      of
      Brussels

The Galerie Bortier will host various counters where cheesemakers, pork butchers, booksellers and even a literary café will rub shoulders, where book lovers will be able to attend author signings and reading sessions. Emblematic figures of the Brussels landscape such as the Dierendonck butcher’s, the Sœurs cheese shop, the Filigranes bookshop and a spice bar run by the renowned chef Yves Mattagne.

Galerie Bortier: an emblematic business closes its doors

A space dedicated to Brussels beers will also be set up, showcasing products from breweries such as La Mule, La Jungle, Surréaliste, brasserie de la Senne, Brussels Beer Project, La Source, En Stoemelings and l’Ermitage. A bar will be open on site to allow visitors to enjoy Brussels beers, as will a take-away sales area.

With this renovation, the entrepreneur wants to make the Bortier gallery a must-see destination, both for Brussels residents and visitors. Listed, the gallery will keep its original paintings and will remain in its “juice”. These new spaces, currently under construction, will welcome the first visitors at the end of October, beginning of November. The hope is that this project, by combining different concepts, will breathe new life into this forgotten gallery.
