A winter illness much feared by young parents, bronchiolitis is about to make its big comeback. After the Beyfortus vaccine was put into circulation last year, a new serum will be offered to protect infants from this respiratory disease.

The days are getting shorter, the temperatures are dropping and the sun is a little less present: no more doubt, summer is behind us and metropolitan France is slowly plunging into autumn. With the cooling of the weather, the return of small viruses is announced. Among them, bronchiolitis, always very dreaded by parents of infants, for whom it can turn out to be very serious.

A new vaccine alongside Beyfortus to protect babies from bronchiolitis

Since last year, parents of babies have had the option of having them vaccinated with Beyfortus: a “preventive” serum from Sanofi laboratories, which can be injected at birth, in the maternity ward, or a few weeks before the start of the epidemic… that is, in the coming days. This season, another option will be on the table. The Pfizer laboratory is offering pregnant women who are in their eighth month of pregnancy an injection of the Abrysvo vaccine, a serum that will protect the baby as soon as it is born, the antibodies produced by its mother having been transmitted to it before birth by the placenta. The vaccine received the green light from the High Authority of Health (HAS) for its distribution in France last June. The vaccine has been available in pharmacies since the beginning of the week.

An interesting alternative for parents who do not want…
