“I was ready to start a family”

Naomi Watts continues to lift the taboo on early menopause. Faced with this natural phenomenon, which marks the definitive end of periods, at the age of 36, the actress announced on August 20 the publication of her book entitled “Dare I Say It”. The release of this project is scheduled for January 2025. “This book tells the story of how my life changed when I was told that I was close to menopause at the age of 36!” wrote on Instagram the actress revealed in “Mulholland Drive”, now aged 55. Indeed, premenopause occurred in her life as a woman when she was considering becoming a mother. “Just when I was ready to start a family! I thought it was the end of everything. And certainly my fertility and my career,” she adds, two years after launching her cosmetics brand, Stripes Beauty, aimed at menopausal women.

Menopause generally occurs between the ages of 45 and 55, according to Inserm, and at an average age of 51 in France. When the definitive cessation of menstrual cycles occurs before the age of 40, this is called premature ovarian insufficiency, or early menopause.
