At the beginning of 2024, Grand Corps Malade launch a challenge at the Franco-Swiss DJ Mosimann: marry, in a song, Barbara and Eminem, a “good big funk from the 80s” and cords like Charles Aznavour. Result: two million views and the birth of a housing concept.

Since then, every Monday, hundreds of thousands of subscribers have rushed to the new “track of your dreams” that this ex-winner of the program “Star Academy” makes by complying with artists’ requests (Craig David, Pierre Garnier …), sportsmen (Florent Manaudou …) or figures of French television. The laughter of a loved one coupled to a trap beat, a riff from MGMT or animal noises … Everything seems possible for Mosimann, 36, who hacks these hybrid sounds from the basement of his Parisian Home Studio , Pop sanctuary where you penetrate by pushing a fridge door.

“The only rule is not to be afraid of dreaming,” says the DJ-Auto-Pianist-singer, even if the magic of assembly and Instagram aesthetics mask the difficulty of the task. Three days are thus necessary for each “Dream Track” … when they succeed. “For 50 published songs, there is as much as I throw,” he says. The one with the singer Ben Mazué remained in the harbor and even the artificial intelligence did nothing. “Sometimes you have to accept to break your face,” he philosophizes.

In his previous life, Quentin Mosimann did not really “broke his face” but approached the abyss. Young DJ mowed in Ibiza, he landed by chance with his angel mouth at the “Star Ac ‘” in 2008, with the hope of helping his mother financially. “Me the little little one who loved underground techno, I spot in a super mainstream program,” recalls this self -taught musician, who finds himself at 20 years old singing in duet with the French rock icon Johnny Hallyday and wins the competition . “I didn’t think I was going to love it as much,” he says.

The real test then arrives. Humped with a first double gold album of gold, Mosimann finds himself in the legendary Parisian room of Olympia in 2010 against his audience and a huge dizziness: “I saw all the people who were happy, but I remember To be mounted on stage telling me that I was not at all in the right place ”. He then decides to place everything.

Then begins a more uncertain career of electro DJs, where the “Star Ac” label can be a burden. “I needed recognition in electronic music. You had to constantly question yourself and ask yourself, “Do I deserve my place?” He rewinds. The dates are linked in the clubs of Europe and Asia where Mosimann arrives with his turntables, keyboards and, sometimes, his battery, in search of the perfect moment. “This is what we are looking for when we are DJ, the climax, the time of dropping out when people will let go of their phone and let go. The best thing in the world, ”says the one who has appeared several times in the prestigious top 100 of DJ Mag.

The Covid breaks the momentum a little but, in 2020, Grand Corps Malade entrusted him with the composition of almost all of his album “Ladies”. Nearly a million copies have passed and a diamond disc adorns the Parisian lair of Mosimann, next to a statue of and a frecking “Stranger Things”. “It was a new life,” says the thirties, wrung out by his existence as a producer DJ but aware of his luck. “I only dreamed of one thing when I was young, it was to make music.”

Today, his DJ agenda is full and he is preparing to find out of artists for a next album 100% “Dream Tracks”, with the obsession not to “betray himself”. “It must have been very time that I can look at myself in the mirror and say to me:” Ok, I like what I do, “he concludes.
