Birds of a feather, Espresso or even Good Luck Babe! have set holiday playlists alight, punctuated by the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The summer season is going well, especially for female artists. Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter, pop stars have made us dance this summer. As August draws to a close, here’s a look back at the most listened-to hits from this holiday season.
22-year-old American singer Billie Eilish tops global summer listening on Spotify, the leading global music streaming platform, with Birds of a feather. She thus becomes the artist « most listened to on Spotify with over 100 million monthly listeners ». Billie Eilish also finds herself in 3rd position, with the same title, in the world ranking on Apple Music.
But the holidays were also punctuated by Sabrina Carpenter (25 years old) and Chappell Roan (26 years old). The first is 4th in the Spotify world top with Espresso, 1st on Deezer, and offers a double in the top 10 of Apple Music, with the 5th and 6th positions, thanks respectively to Please please please and to the previously mentioned piece Espresso. As for Chappell Roan, she is 2nd in the Spotify world top with Hot to go and 8th on Apple Music with Good luck, babe!.
Two Americans then stand out, Kendrick Lamar (37 years old) and Shaboozey (29 years old). The first is at the top of the Apple Music ranking and 3rd in the Spotify world ranking with Not like us. Shaboozey is 2nd on Apple Music and 5th on Spotify with A bar song (Tipsy).
French specialties
In France, as usual, French or French-speaking artists dominated the platform charts this summer. Carbonne, a 27-year-old from Montpellier, thus sits at the top of Spotify’s summer France ranking, 2nd on Deezer and 4th on Apple Music with Imagine. We then find a well-known client with Gims, at 2nd place on Spotify with Spiderin collaboration with Dystinct, a title which earned him 1st place on Apple Music, where he then placed Don’t be shy in 2nd position. Deezer counted these two songs to give it 1st place.
Qobuz, another music streaming platform, stands out with Zaho by Sagazan which occupies 1st place with The Symphony of Lightning and the 8th with Modern love. She is 10th on Deezer. Also not to be forgotten is the Chilean offensive by Cris Mj and FloyyMenor, who place Gata only in 3rd place at Spotify and 5th at Apple Music, for the summer listening report in France.
An Olympic summer
The summer of 2024 was not like the others. We must take into account the impact of the musical shows during the opening and closing ceremonies of the Paris Olympic Games, on July 26 and August 11. Aya Nakamura, in the opening, notably took up a medley For me Formidable by Charles Aznavour. Listening to this standard has increased by 142% on Spotify in France.
And Kavinsky, who was seen at the closing ceremony, benefited from a +516% increase in listening in France on Spotify for his song Nightcallalso in 2nd position for Shazam searches this summer in France. Nightcall is also ranked 10th in the Qobuz France top.
Also note that Flour mania et If I ever feel betterplayed by Phoenix at the closing of the Olympic Games, come in 4th and 8th positions in Shazam France queries.
