The third edition of the Marrakech Literary Festival (FLAM), will be held from January 30 to February 2, 2025. Placed under the honorary presidency of the writer Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clézio, this edition will focus on themes anchored in the editorial and scientific news from authors, thinkers and intellectuals from Africa and its diasporas, say the organizers. The event will place particular emphasis on reactivating the links that unite Africans across the world, while promoting the cultural diversity of the continent.
Nearly fifty authors, including established figures and young writers, will participate in this edition, representing more than twenty countries and three continents, confirms the same source. The program will include discussions focused on the voices of women in Africa and their contribution to world literature, with several panel discussions dedicated to this topic.
The FLAM will also welcome Ananda Devi, a notable Mauritian writer, who will give the Inaugural Lecture. Christiane Taubira, former French Minister of Justice and fervent defender of human rights, will act as a Great Witness, sharing her social commitment and passion for literature. Moroccan artist Najia Mehadji will illustrate the poster for the 2025 festival, while an exhibition by Haitian artist Marie-Denise Douyon is also planned.
As in the first two editions, literary cafés, palavers, readings, signings, films and evening evenings will follow one another during the four days of the festival at the Les Etoiles Cultural Center of Jamaâ el-Fna, with particular attention paid to young audiences.
-Master classes, writing workshops and literary breakfasts will be scheduled outside the walls, in partner sites.
The awarding of the Marrakech High School Students Prize, now part of the FLAM, will conclude this edition, affirming the festival’s commitment to promoting reading and writing among younger generations.
