5 mins. reading

As a child, he already dreamed of this book mixing text and image to untangle the tangle of certainties that constrain thought and societies. The title came to him later, in the 1970s resounding with the clash of ideologies, in the oxymoronic form of Manifesto uncertain. Summoning a collection of ghosts and forgotten heroes, illustrious artists and fellow travelers, Frédéric Pajak launched his great work in nine volumes in 2012. At the rate of one title per year, he travels in the company of Walter Benjamin, André Breton and Nadja, Hannah Arendt, Edward Hopper, Van Gogh, Gébé, Beckett, Cesare Pavese, Schmol and Bugnol, Ezra Pound, the poets Emily Dickinson and Marina Tsvetaieva, Mix & Remix, Ernest Renan, Paul Léautaud…

With them and many others, he declines the stanzas of worried fraternity, introduces doubt into dogmas, deconstructs commonplaces and prejudices to reveal another story, a “hidden history” of art and human beings. .
