The story of Arnaud and Olympe looks like a fairy tale. Nationally recognized comedian, Arnaud Demanche decided to accompany and support Olympe, 17 years old, in his fight againstanorexia. A struggle that he himself led a few years ago.

Friday January 17 2025, the young woman will take the stage of the Zéphyr, Chateaugiron (Ille-et-Vilaine), where the comedian invited her to do her opening act. The culmination of a beautiful story, which Arnaud Demanche tells us.

A deal between Olympe and Arnaud Demanche

I was anorexic and I testified about my journey, begins the actor. Olympe, 17, who has suffered from severe anorexia for almost two years following a tragedy, saw this interview and wrote to me from the hospital to thank me last May. I too used humor to confront illness.

Out of school because of her illness, the young woman Bréal-sous-Montfort launched into humor on social networks. She presents sketches evoking her daily life under the pseudonym Olympeshow.

“I discovered his blog, and everything seemed obvious to me,” continues Arnaud Demanche. I found it very funny. We met andt I offered him a deal : if she gained 3 kg, like me, she would be the opening act for my show at the Zéphyr. For her, it was a question of survival. This gave him a boost; she gained weight, self-confidence, and found motivation to get through it. It’s a great reward. »

“It boosts my healing process”

Today, Olympe is doing better. She confides: “I was hospitalized twice, each time with a life-threatening prognosis. I was at risk of cardiac arrest, weighed 25 kg. These last few months have been very complicated. But I’m alive. »

Humor represented a great breath of fresh air for her, and a vital escape.

I have always loved humor and it is through this that I get better. It boosts my healing process. Since I was little, I have dreamed of performing on stage, on the radio and being a journalist. I wrote the show about anorexia in a humorous way. It will last 20 minutes. I’m proud of myself, it’s a great revenge.

On Instagram, she aptly handles self-deprecation, evoking her reality with hindsight.

“I make videos, but I also give advice and do prevention. Arnaud Demanche is a real support, it’s an incredible chance to know him. It motivates me. We write and call each other often, we have become close friends. January 17 is a symbolic date, because I will go on stage for the first time and the next day, I will celebrate my 18th birthday! »
