Who are the main actors of the film Berlin Nobody ?
In the shoes of Ben Monroe, we find none other than Eric Bana. Best known for playing Bruce Banner in Hulk in 2003, the actor also lent his features to Hector in Troy in 2004, then to Henry VIII in Two Sisters for a King in 2008. He truly experienced the peak of his career at the beginning of the 2000s, becoming rarer in major successful productions since then and even appearing in more enigmatic projects like Wild: Heatwave 2 in 2024. In Berlin Nobody, an equally astonishing thriller, he shares the poster with the young Sadie Sink. If his name may not mean anything to you, his face is probably more familiar to you. At only 22 years old, the young actress already has several film roles to her credit, including that of Ellie in The Whalea film which won Brendan Fraser the 2023 Oscar for best actor. Above all, since 2017 she has played Maxine Mayfield in the hit series Stranger Thingsalongside Millie Bobby Brown, Winona Ryder, and Gaten Matarazzo.
What is the movie about? Berlin Nobody ?
In Berlin NobodyEric Bana and Sadie Sink play a father, Ben, and his daughter, Mazzy. The first, an American living in Berlin following his separation, receives the second for a semester. If the high school student is happy to see her father again, she is especially delighted with someone she met upon her arrival at the airport. A mysterious young man, called Martin, will help her find her way and form a friendly relationship with her, first, then romantic. Problem: Martin is part of a cult that Ben is investigating to write his next book. If this kind of theme isn’t your thing or your stomach turns easily, this movie probably isn’t for you. There are numerous scenes of collective suicides, drowning and other unnatural deaths and the atmosphere gives you chills. In this, the film by Jordan Scott (daughter of the one and only Ridley Scott, who also co-produced the project), is successful. On the other hand, the scenario leaves something to be desired. After increasing the tension, thanks to the erratic and unconscious adolescent character of Mazzy, he struggles to maintain a credible thread. We don’t understand where he wants to take us, or why, and the twists and turns fall flat. And even though it only lasts 1h30, it drags on. However, Sadie Sink and Jonas Dassler (who plays Martin) give convincing performances as tortured and naive teenagers. For that alone, the film is worth a watch.
