The concept is out of the ordinary. In one session, five human adventures are told in three hours in the form of films with hiking as a backdrop. On the program: sensations, emotions and unique stories. This is what the traveling hiking film festival Histoires & Crapahutes offers, scheduled at the Le Lido cinema, in Royan, Tuesday January 28 at 2 p.m. At the origin of this epic, we find two friends, Jérôme Poizat and the comic book author Philippe Donadille. “I am attracted by everything related to cinema and Jérôme by mountaineering. Knowing that we both love hiking. The idea for this festival was born during a trek on the ridges of Cap Corse,” confides the latter.

It is therefore a traveling festival with films competing for the Audience Award. In each room, around forty in total, spectators will be able to vote for the one of their choice. The prize will be presented to the winner at the end of the tour in March. “Of course, there is always hiking as a common thread with the landscapes that go with it, the escape, the change of scenery, but behind it, we wanted real stories with varied subjects such as change of life, disability, exploration, surpassing oneself,” explains Jérôme Poizat.

By proxy

The duo will host the session by contextualizing each film. “We selected four out of around sixty, the first of the five serving as an introduction with our own experience in Cap Corse. Spectators will travel to Iceland, Tajikistan but also close to home, in the Alps,” reveals Philippe Donadille. The first dates revealed real enthusiasm.

“We wanted to show several types of hikes from the most accessible to the most difficult that spectators experience in the cinema a little by proxy,” indicate the co-creators of the festival. So let’s start the year with a breath of fresh air.

Prices: 17 euros and 15 euros for under 26s. Online reservation (http://www.histoirescrapahutes.com).
