As part of the Bonheurs d’hiver festival, the association of Millavois painters and sculptors organized a drawing workshop with David Libourel.

A tradition. During school holidays, the old mill organizes drawing workshops. Among the teachers, David Libourel, alias Daf, is one of the oldest. For 25 years, the cartoonist has been passing on his knowledge to young Millavois residents.

As part of the Bonheurs d’hiver festival, two days of this kind were organized by the association of Millavois painters and sculptors of which the artist is a member. The first, around trolls and leprechauns, took place on December 27. The second, this January 3, aimed to draw funny animals. “It’s a successful theme”confesses David Libourel.

Moving, little by little, towards caricature

Once they have learned from photographs, the young designers will have figurines as models. “The idea is to move little by little towards caricatureexplains Daf. With references to the world of comics and cartoons such as Tintin or Mickey.” At the end of the day, the 14 participants will go home with new skills to sketch whatever is around them, wherever they are.
