Rosita Missoni, the vibrant soul of Italian fashion, passes away at 93

Rosita Missoni, Italian fashion designer and co-founder of the famous fashion house Missoni, died this Thursday at the age of 93. She leaves behind a unique legacy marked by innovation and elegance.
In 1953, Rosita and her husband Ottavio Missoni founded a brand that became iconic, thanks to its colorful knitted clothing decorated with geometric patterns, including the famous fiammato zigzags. Coming from a family of weavers near Varese, in northern Italy, Rosita grew up in the heart of the textile trades before turning to studies in modern languages.
His meeting with Ottavio in London in 1948, where he was participating in the Olympic Games, marked the beginning of an adventure that was both personal and professional. Together, they transformed fashion into a modern art, bringing a bold touch to each creation.
After leading the creative department of women’s collections for several decades, Rosita passed the baton to her daughter Angela in the 1990s. Despite personal tragedies, including the death of their son Vittorio in a plane crash in 2013, Rosita and her family continued to make the Missoni house shine.
Diversified in interior design and supported by major investments, the brand remains today a symbol of Italian excellence. Rosita Missoni is passing away, but her influence and creativity will continue to inspire the fashion world.
