Laila Aziz: “My creations combine cultural heritage and universal appeal”

CHow do you perceive the Kayat brand today? How has it evolved since its creation?

Kayat is today a symbol of timeless elegance and artistic innovation. Since its inception, the brand has evolved from a vision of blending cultural heritage and modern fashion to a global presence that celebrates craftsmanship and individuality.

Our latest collection perfectly reflects this evolution. Inspired by Hollywood glamour, she offers timeless and versatile pieces that embody effortless sophistication. Each design is designed to be everlasting, allowing its wearer to style it and adapt it to any occasion. This collection marks another step in Kayat becoming synonymous with pieces that stand the test of time. Moving forward, my ambition is for Kayat to redefine what luxury fashion means – combining versatility, sustainability and cultural storytelling in a way that resonates around the world.

What does the fashion show that you have just organized in Marrakech mean to you? Could you share with us your creative inspirations?

The Marrakech show was a celebration of everything Kayat represents – elegance, culture and modernity. It marked a milestone in our journey by introducing a collection that is not only timeless but also incredibly versatile.

This new collection is inspired by Hollywood glamour, combining vintage allure with modern functionality. The designs feature flowing silhouettes, luxurious fabrics and understated embellishments, making them suitable for any occasion. The idea was to create pieces that would be just as relevant in the decades to come as they are today.

For me, this show also symbolized Kayat’s growth into a brand that creates connections and tells stories.

As a Moroccan designer, what is your vision of fashion?

For me, fashion is about creating timeless stories. It’s about capturing the spirit of a moment while creating designs that remain relevant across generations. I strive to design pieces that balance cultural heritage and universal appeal.

With our new collection, inspired by the glamor of Old Hollywood, my vision was to create versatile and stylish pieces that can be worn and styled in countless ways. It’s not just about beauty, but also about wearability and creating an emotional connection with each piece.

In my creative process, I am inspired by Moroccan art, modern trends and the idea of timelessness. Each design is a fusion of structure, fluidity and functionality, allowing the wearer to flourish while celebrating their individuality.
