There’s already good news in 2025 for fans of the British royal family and Meghan Markle: the Duchess of Sussex is back on Instagram.

The former actress reopened her own account on the social network this Wednesday after almost five absences from the platform. The account, which belongs to the Duchess, according to the Associated Press, and titled @meghan, is already followed by more than 600,000 people.

Video on a Californian beach

There is only one publication available for the moment: a black and white video where we see him from behind on a beach. According to People magazine, this video was filmed by Prince Harry on a beach near their home in Montecito, California. In the biography, a few simple words: “Meghan, Duchess of Sussex”.

Enough to make the British tabloids react, as the story between Meghan and Instagram has caused so much ink to flow, symbolizing her complicated relationship with the crown. Meghan Markle, who was followed by more than 3 million followers on Instagram before marrying Prince Harry in 2018, had deleted all her social media accounts a few months before her wedding.

Once forever linked with the British royal family, the 43-year-old ex-actress then opened a first joint account with Prince Harry (@KensingtonRoyal) where we also followed the adventures of Prince William, and his wife, Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales. The publication rules were then very strict and prevented Meghan from revealing her private life.

“I’m coming back”

The opening of a second account in 2019 (@SussexRoyal) on which they highlighted their royal actions, but also their personal lives, marked a first step in their distance from the royal family. After their renunciation of their titles in 2020, the account then ceased to be funded.

Since then, almost no more news apart from a few photos published on the account of their Archewell foundation. However, his return was long awaited. In a 2022 interview with New York Magazine, she confided: “You want to know a secret? I’m coming back… to Instagram. » We had to wait almost three years.
