Franco-Algerian actor Sammy Lechea wins the prize for best male performance
The festival, organized every two years in Tunisia, highlights the latest cinematographic achievements and rewards the best performances in several categories, including: feature films and short fiction films, documentary films, first work, best female performance, best screenplay, music, photography, editing…
During this festival, Franco-Algerian actor Sammy Lechea won the prize for best male performance and was crowned best actor of this edition. And this, thanks to his role in the film “L’Effacement”, directed by Karim Moussaoui.
In this poignant film, Samy Lechea plays the role of Réda, who lives in the shadow of an authoritarian father, who imposes professional and personal choices on his son that stifle any attempt at emancipation. In this rather complex role, Sammy Lechea offers a performance of rare intensity which makes Réda much more than a simple protagonist.

Furthermore, through this family conflict recounted in L'Effacement, Sammy Lechea becomes a true mirror of the intimate tensions that run through this story and he succeeds in expressing, often through silence and glances, the invisible flaws of a man in search of oneself.
Between social drama, sentimental chronicle and psychological thriller, Karim Moussaoui mixes genres brilliantly in L'Effacement.
This work of Algerian cinema explores the story of a young man with a perfect life, living in a bourgeois neighborhood and occupying a position in one of the country's largest companies. However, behind this apparently serene facade, Réda is an abyss of solitude and hides a deep unease and chronic frustration.
Furthermore, a divide between reality and imagination marks the story. In particular, after the fantastic disappearance of Réda's reflection. A trigger for the young man who realizes that he is deprived of his identity.
The film is not limited to these shadows, Réda's relationship with a restaurateur, whose role is played with grace by Zar Amir Ebrahimi brings light and hope to this story.
