The temporary exhibition at the Mathurin-Méheut museum, which will be unveiled in April 2025, will be devoted to Paleo-art. The museum will host six original works by Mathurin Méheut and Yvonne Jean-Haffen, from a set of 25 large-format canvases currently visible in building 5 of the Beaulieu campus in . “A treasure created between 1942 and 1947, which evokes geological landscapes, ancient fauna and flora and the work of artisans”, rejoiced Elisabeth Renault, director of the museum, at the end of the general assembly which It was held on Friday December 20 in the presence of Thierry Andrieux, Geoffoy de Longuemar, Thierry Gauvrit, respectively first, second and third vice-presidents of the Public Interest Group (GIP). “The permanent exhibition will be 90% renewed,” she recalled.

Exhibition outside the walls

Another source of satisfaction for the new director, who took office last September, the reception during the year 2024 of 23,000 visitors, including 3,540 students, who were accompanied by Valerie Willemet, relay professor advisor commissioned by the DAAC . The museum, which obtained the Tourism and Disability label in 2024, will also focus on welcoming families, by offering an independent visit system with free provision of documentation. 3D printing of certain works will allow visitors to get up close and touch them. An open policy to remove obstacles to coming to the museum will also be initiated with exhibitions outside the walls, particularly in nursing homes. Partnership with schools as part of artistic and cultural education projects, behind-the-scenes tour of the museum and other series of conferences are among the projects registered for this year 2025.

Note that the 2024 temporary exhibition dedicated to the ornate letters written by Mathurin Méheut to Yvonne Jean-Haffen is still visible until January 5, 2025.
