Invited on the set of “Seven to Eight” in the portrait of Audrey Crespo-Mara, Jean-Claude Van Damme spoke about his relationship with his three children. A link between distance and jealousy.

Screening several feature films this year including “Kill 'Em All 2” and “Darkness of Man », Jean-Claude Van Damme will also be in the casting of David Charhon's “Gardener” in 2025. At 64, the Belgian actor is far from having said his last word.

This Sunday, December 22, he is the “Portrait of the week” facing journalist Audrey Crespo-Mara. During the interview, Jean-Claude Van Damme opened his heart about his family: “I have a wonderful life but I have small regrets. I lost the relationship with my children. I left [la maison] very young and I have been in hotels for fifty years. So they don't know me. Right now, I don't think my kids like me very much. »

Father of three children from two different marriages, Jean-Claude Van Damme was quickly drawn into his professional life and his all-consuming ambition. Far from home, he has – according to his words – never had the opportunity to create a bond with Kristopher (37 years old) and Bianca (34 years old), his two children born from his marriage to bodybuilder Gladys Portugues. No more with his youngest child, Nicholas (29 years old), fruit of his marriage to Darcy Lapier.

“Even when I’m dead, they won’t understand”

In the mood to confide in his family life, Jean-Claude Van Damme continued his intimate confessions. Now remarried to Gladys Portugues, the father leaves a bitter taste in his children: “When I started to succeed, I gave everything, but they [ses enfants] are not going to understand it. Even when I'm dead, they won't understand it. »

The actor revealed during the interview that his three children still lived under the family roof, with one dream in mind: that of becoming actors in their turn. This dream was their father who was at the origin: “I told them we would be a cinema family, but I was wrong. » At the head of a great career and always in demand by directors, Jean-Claude Van Damme draws a sad conclusion: “My children admire me a lot but there is a little jealousy. »
