This holiday season, discipline is a unavoidablebut not all cabaret artists play… in a cabaret. Since September 2024, twelve artists who met in an establishment in Auge country embarked on an adventure in itinerantwithout a fixed location but with Pont-l'Évêque (Calvados) as a base. On December 31, Délire-Délice will play its show at the Cabourg casino.
“It’s the passion that unites us. We have a professional background together that linked us. Homelessness was the best way to come together to continue working together», justifies Maxime Soubien-Cliquet singer-host and head of the troupe’s troupe, named Délire-Délice “ because we are delirious and delicious, quite simply! It is the simplicity that represents us. »
An unusual mode of operation, especially in the Pays d'Auge, but which has its advantages, according to Alexandre Soubien-CliquetMaxime’s husband, dancer-choreographer: “ You can never rest on your achievements . You always have to adapt to the places you come to. » The dancer Enora Gabardconfirms: “I had only done fixed work until now and it’s a real discovery. »
“We want to see the country”
“We want to see the country”assures Audrey Chanu Legendre, the other singer of the band. The troupe thus plays in hotelsof the restaurantsof the party rooms of the private eventsor Ehpad. A place that Maxime Soubien-Cliquet particularly likes. ” It is bring happiness to people who cannot travel . »
A show is also planned in the coming months at Impressionist Manorof Honfleur, as well as in Lisieux. For the rest, “we’re just getting started, so it takes time to build our customersespecially since cabaret shows are planned very well in advance,” indicates Maxime Soubien-Cliquet. “But we were caught up by our network: for next year, we already have a lot of requests. »
The Délire-Délice recipe is a cabaret between tradition and modernity (read below). The twelve artists (a singer-presenter, a singer, a dancer-choreographer, five dancers, three transformists and a technician) make “the revueofcharlestonand sensual paintingof the humourof the resemblance of the sung duets and solos », explains Alexandre Soubien-Cliquet. He specifies: “ On stage, we mix everything. On each painting, we are all together. »
A discipline that is modernizing
At Délire-Délice, “we keep the traditional side,” assumes Maxime Soubien-Cliquet. This is what people expect. They want women, sensuality, feathers… Let it shine! » He also notes that the public is getting younger. “Basically, we mainly had retirement clubs, but this is no longer as true as before. »
A trend due, according to him, to media coverage. “We talk a lot more about cabaret today. There are shows that make you want to discover. Before, to know, you had to go there. Now young people come too. »
It must be said that the cabaret has modernized. “We have made progress on the technique with LED lighting,” points out Enora Gabard. And then, we also changed our choices of music… Before, we were really into traditional music! » “We didn't dare to put Rihanna, Britney Spears… And now we're putting it on! », adds Maxime Soubien-Cliquet.
The changing outlook on women also has a lot to do with it, according to the troupe's leader: “They are becoming more relaxed. There is no longer the image of the tall girl with long legs. Today, all women can recognize themselves in artists. » Enora Gabard, who herself gives these lessons, thinks no less: “There are more and more classes to learn how to dance on heels. Women want to learn how to express their femininity on stage. »
Remote training and hand-sewn costumes
Not having a dedicated place also changes the way of train. ” There is a lot of work each at homereveals Alexandre Soubien-Cliquet. We film ourselves and send each other the videos. » Occasional rehearsals often take place at the Le Pôle room, in Saint-Gatien-des-Bois loaned by the Viédanse association, where Enora Gabard gives lessons.
An organization in do-it-yourself mode, which requires a certain versatilityon the technique and… the couturebecause the costumes are the responsibility of the artists and not of a venue. “Feathers are the biggest budget!”laughs Alexandre Soubien-Cliquet. What, also, strengthens the links between the members of the team. ” There cohesion thecomplicitybetween artists, it’s important. The public feels it», assures Enora Gabard.
Délire-Délice, which will soon play in Sables-d'Olonne (Vendée) is not limited to Normandy and is already planning on the objective of Maxime Soubien-Cliquet: “This summer, I would like to do atour of France campsitesand finish in Cap d'Agde! »
The troupe is looking for a male dancer. Contacts and information on the Délire-Délice Facebook page or on 06 59 55 69 66.
