It is with a big smile of satisfaction that Marie Bureau welcomes customers to her Ardgalen boutique, open since December 7 at 11, cours Clemenceau in Saint-André de Cubzac, happy to have realized one of her dreams, opening her space presentation and sale of his artistic creations.

This artist, who has lived in Salignac since 1999, has a particular professional career, rich and varied, because she never stops having ideas and projects. “I am originally from Barbezieux and I studied at the Beaux-Arts in Angoulême then in to obtain a national diploma in plastic arts, specializing in graphic arts and advertising, then I taught plastic arts in schools for several years in Sainte-Eulalie and Carbon-Blanc. »

Lane changes

Marie Bureau then created the 68'arts association and continued to give lessons in Salignac until 2008, before launching into painting to create paintings that she exhibited in New Aquitaine, but also in Spain and in Germany. A few years later, a new change for this insatiable and multi-talented artist: she chose to become an interior decorator.

“Above all, I want to make myself known, to show what I like to do, with of course the hope of perpetuating this space”

“At first, I gave advice on decoration, then I decided to carry out the projects myself. I define myself as a craftsman-painter-decorator. For a while, I worked on construction sites during the week and, on weekends, I exhibited at markets, Christmas markets or flea markets. Then, in 2019, I arranged and decorated guest rooms in my house for the pleasure of meetings, but I decided to stop them to devote myself to the store. »

Revamped furniture

Last summer, she redecorated the interior of two businesses on Cours Clemenceau and, learning that premises were available, she took the plunge and decided to open her shop. Since then, visitors have been able to discover his world, old furniture given a modern makeover, trinkets unearthed at flea markets and rediscovered, but also Indonesian Buddhas, leather goods, paintings created by the artist or by friends. “I even installed this large toile de Jouy on the wall to emphasize that it could go very well in a contemporary house. I have so much to show that I needed this store, and I'm very happy to have been able to open it. »

But Marie Bureau continues to visit flea markets and antique shops for the pleasure of finding certain objects and giving free rein to her creativity by giving them a second life. She also continues her interior decoration projects as requests arise. “Above all, I want to make myself known, to show what I like to do, with of course the hope of perpetuating this space. »
