Who will open the 5th edition of the Rock en Chêne festival on Saturday July 12, 2025? The answer will be given during the springboard scheduled for Saturday February 8 in the socio-cultural room by the organizing association Riff R’Aff. Candidate groups have until Saturday December 21 to submit their application for the springboard.
“We have already received 62 applications, more than the 59 last year”appreciates Yannick Diguet, president of Riff R’Aff. Open since October, applications “arrive from everywhere: from Brest to Amiens via Montpellier”. Groups must “send us audio files and videos to show what they give “live””. Bands representing all genres of rock can apply.
Four groups will be selected for the springboard on Saturday February 8 in the socio-cultural room. “The preselection will be carried out by a mixed jury of five members of the association, including two musicians and a sound engineer. »
They will evaluate several criteria: the quality of the writing, the musical quality, creativity and originality in the production. The quality of the recording will not be taken into account.
“We offer a real stage experience to groups. Last year, one of the musicians from the winning group GrandRapide had never been on stage. The Rennes quartet made the difference with its raw rock, metal fusion, with lyrics in French. »
Other groups scheduled at the springboard “are doing well, like Recouvrance or Dirty Old Story, winner of the first springboard, which plays in lots of festivals”.
The Rock en Chêne 2025 poster
The winner of the springboard will add his name to those already on the bill for the 5th edition of the Rock en Chêne festival on Saturday July 12. “We are returning to a more rock program than last year, which flirted with electro. Our headliner is the band Burning Heads, with “melodic skate punk” rock with American influences.describes Yannick Diguet. “ Their slightly reggae music like the Clash was heard several times at the Au Pont du Rock festival in Malestroit. »
Also on the bill is Sticky Boys, a Parisian trio from “hard rock, which moves quite a bit, very rhythmic, with blues influences, with singing in English”. And the punk band Mad Marx“including the singer Vincent, who was the voice of the group Heyoka, has very committed lyrics”.
Applications should be sent by email to [email protected] until Saturday December 21, 2024.
