Friday evening, Burger will come to the Beat & Beeve nanobrewery in Frelighsburg as the winner of two prizes awarded at the last Alternative Gala for Independent Music of Quebec (GAMIQ). His most recent opus, It can’t be inventedwas named country album of the year. The music video designed for the song Back and forth was also decorated in the “professional production” subcategory at the beginning of the month.
“To see that he had interest in a clip in which we put a lot of love and time, and also a little money, that made me very happy,” admits the singer and musician of 34 years old, who spent portions of his childhood in Saint-Césaire then in Saint-Paul-d’Abbotsford.
“As for the album, there were so many beautiful people nominated! It shouldn’t be a priority when you make music, but these trophies remain thefun to gain.”

Alexandre Beauregard (that’s his real name) however claims not to have experienced any real disappointment during the most recent ADISQ First Gala, which notably crowned Salebarbes for the record To drink standing up.
“It’s certain that having won against big names in 2021 [avec Sweet Montérégie]I told myself that everything was possible. At the same time, the guys from Salebarbes are chums and I was very happy to see them win this prize for the first time, awarded directly by the Academy.”
Create without constraints
Alex Burger has quietly cemented his place in the industry since his participation in the semi-finals of the Granby International Song Festival in 2018 and his appearances on the show The Voice two years later.
Now based in Abercorn, very close to the border, the singer-songwriter will feel at home on Friday evening. Especially since he particularly likes “intimate, but not too much” rooms, like that of Beat & Beeve. On site, no one is likely to confuse the star of the evening with Paul Daraîche or Matt Lang.
“Even though the roots of my two albums are primarily country, the show also goes in other directions, like blues. I like to say that I make Quebecois songs, which bring together several styles. It gives me a certain margin of maneuver, but at the base of all that, there is our identity, our speech and our language.

From Frelighsburg to Amsterdam
Alex Burger will visit Europe twice rather than once in the first half of 2025. Before crossing the Atlantic with his own bandaffectionately named Les Prix Staff, he will do it first in the company of the other members of Bon Enfant.
This rock group has received much praise in Quebec since the release of its third album, Special requestin mid-October. Everything suggests that he also has his share of fans in the United Kingdom, Germany and the Netherlands.
“Things are going very well on that front. The albums have good receptions and the tours are always very pleasant. Five years after our debut, we still have so much fun playing together,” concludes the Bon Enfant bassist.
