Here are the 18 candidates (including several known) from “Star Académie”

The 18 candidates who will participate in the first variety of Star Academy were unveiled Tuesday at the Videotron Center, and several of them are already well known to Quebecers.

Hosted by Jean-Philippe Dion, the event brought together nearly 400 fans of the show in Quebec, who won their access following a competition. In particular, they were able to meet the director of the Academy, Garou, as well as the new teachers Émily Bégin, Véronic DiCaire and Pierre Lapointe.

Among the candidates revealed Tuesday evening, several have already passed through The Junior Voice or The Voice et The Voice Kids In . This is the case, among others, of Zoey Daferuru, 20 years old (Marc Dupré’s team), Maxim Doucet, 18 years old (Marie-Mai’s team), Philippe Lebouthillier, 21 years old (Patrick Fiori’s team), and Yoann Guay , 24 years old.

Many spectators on site will also have recognized Marc-Antoine Delage, who, for his part, has more than 610,000 subscribers on his TikTok account and nearly 40 million “likes” on his humorous videos.

“It’s really a very diverse cohort in terms of voices, musical style and what’s interesting, too, is that we arrived this year with a casting which casts an extremely wide net across the regions of Quebec. We also have two people from New Brunswick. There are really people everywhere,” underlined Jean-Philippe Dion in an interview with the QMI Agency.

Of the 18 selected candidates, who can be discovered in more detail during the show On the way to Star Academypresented from January 13 to 16, 14 of them, including four with direct access, will enter the Montreal Academy.

“As much variety as daily life, we completely renew the experience. For everyday life, there is a huge loft in Montreal with incredible views of the rooftops. […] There is a great terrace where candidates can go and get some fresh air. It is certainly, in my opinion, the largest academy we have had so far,” continued the producer, adding that the square footage was “masterful”.

The edition’s theme song will be revealed live during the first variety show of the season, which will be presented on Sunday, January 19 at 7 p.m.

The daily will begin the next day, January 20, at 7:30 p.m., on TVA.

Marc-Antoine Delage – 20 years old – Carignan

Passionate about singing since childhood, Marc-Antoine made himself known on social networks with his humor and his jokes towards those close to him. By registering for Star Academyhe aspires to devote himself fully to music and to be recognized for his vocal talent, but also to refine his technique and develop his stage presence.

Camille Cormier-Morasse – 26 years old – Rouyn-Noranda

Left home at 17 to pursue her dreams, Camille now holds a college diploma in musical theater and a bachelor’s degree in popular singing. She also performed in several musical comedies such as Hair, Waitress et The melody of happiness. HAS Star Academyshe wants to develop as a solo artist.

Léo Giroux – 19 years old – Lévis

Léo studies musical theater at Cégep de Sainte-Foy. His first contact with the performing arts came at a very young age thanks to his parents and their musical troupe La Gang des Macadams. Since then, he has dreamed of performing on the biggest stages, where he wishes to highlight the unique role of performers.

Laurence Libersan – 18 years old – Vaudreuil-Dorion

A student in popular music performance at Collège Lionel-Groulx, Laurence aspires to become a singer-songwriter. She sees Star Academy as an opportunity to gain confidence and develop your full potential.

Albert Asselin – 20 years old (21 years old on December 26) – Quebec

Albert is a performer and guitarist trained in jazz at Cégep de Sainte-Foy, then at University. Since the age of 18, he has made a name for himself as a singer in the bars of his hometown. He comes to Star Academy to grow as an artist and learn to breathe his own color into the songs he performs.

Mia Tinayre – 16 years old – Quebec

Mia is a singer-songwriter with an emotionally rich tone of voice reminiscent of Amy Winehouse. Passionate about music since childhood, she masters the guitar, the piano and even plays the trumpet. She shares her passion and musical sensitivity with her 25,000 subscribers on TikTok.

Joël Vogt – 24 years old – The Visitation-de-Yamaska

True country boyJoël works on the family dairy farm. Multi-instrumentalist and self-taught, he wishes to benefit from the experience Star Academy to better master her voice, having never taken singing lessons. Katrine Sansregret – 20 years old – Saint-Hubert

Loïc Trépanier – 24 years old – Val-D’Or

Maxim Doucet – 18 ans – Alma

After making an impression on Marie-Mai’s team at The Junior Voice in 2016, he joined the Quebec troupe Issime, where he cut his teeth on stage. He sees Star Academy as an opportunity to push one’s limits and explore new facets of one’s art.

Mirani Coelho – 18 years old – Cantley

Of Portuguese origin, Mirani plays the ukulele, trumpet and piano. She has already performed on the main stage of the Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival in front of 35,000 people. She registers at Star Academy with the aim of perfecting his talent in composition and his vocal techniques, hoping to reach the public with his songs.

Philippe Lebouthillier – 21 ans – Pont-Landry, N.-B.

Philippe left his native region of New Brunswick to follow his dream. He studies pop performance at Collège Lionel-Groulx. Passionate about music since a young age, he has already proven himself on sets, making it to the grand final of The Voice Kidsin France, in 2019, in Patrick Fiori’s team. Both sensitive and deadpan, Philippe aspires to perfect himself as an artist while expressing his creativity.

Romie Lacasse – 19 years old – Gatineau

Romie is a singer-songwriter. Inspired by her father, who is also a musician, she has been writing since the age of eight. At the Academy, she wants to perfect her vocal techniques. His goal is to share his passion for local music, with authenticity, while carving out a place in the artistic community.

Randy Mcgraw – 25 ans – Tracadie-Sheila, N.-B.

Randy is a self-taught singer-songwriter introduced to rock by his father and country by his grandfather. Thanks to his music group, Randy was able to develop stage experience. He participates in Star Academy to prove to him that it is possible to make a living from his passion.

Victoria Sénéchal – 23 years old – Mascouche

Inspired by artists like Whitney Houston and Charlotte Cardin, Victoria also wants to touch people through her interpretations. By participating in Star Academyshe wants to surpass her limits, notably through dance classes, and reveal all her artistic potential.

Yoann Guay – 24 years old – Trois-Pistoles

Yoann already has an EP to his credit, launched in 2022. He teaches English and mathematics in high school, in addition to being a coach and technical director of the Trois-Pistoles soccer club. He participated in The Voicein France, where he became aware of the need to find his own voice. He arrives at Star Academy with his positive energy and his great sensitivity.

Zoey Daferuru – 20 ans – Terrebonne
