“Renaissance” is the title of the new show by Mustapha El Atlassi, undeniably one of the best comedians in France. On tour across France from November 27 to February 26, 2025, this new one-man show is sold out.
On social networks, certain sequences have already become cult, like a part of the show dedicated to Algeria, one of the comedian’s favorite subjects, who nonetheless counts many Algerians among its fans.
It’s difficult for Mustapha El Atrassi not to react to the very rich news of the moment, starting with the success of the Algerian spread El Mordjene, highlighted by the comedian to the applause of part of the room. Riding the wave of Moroccan-Algerian tensions, he forced the point by declaring: “The Algerians won (…) I recognize it. I’m a good player. They have the best Nutella, what do you want to do about that?“. And to add another layer by borrowing elements from the discourse of the Algiers regime to qualify its relationship with France, evoking Algeria as a country “as powerful as this colonial power, which has a delicious dessert, you can’t do anything about it. They have the best spread. Game over».
Then to deliver a hard blow to the hilarious audience: “Bravo my brothers, you have fallen very low, Algerians. Before in the debates, it talked about the power of the army, the natural reserves, now they are there: “Don’t we have the best country? Bring back two pieces of toast and a spoon…”».

Noticing the indignation of part of the room, “khawa khawa» he told the assembly, recalling the reasons why he loves Algeria so much. “One day I will go on a date in Algeria. I want to play my show in Algeria. That’s it, I will do it when the country is stable. It will be a great evening for my 70th birthday», quipped the 39-year-old comedian.
«Algerians, I will show you my love in the room. Look how honest I am. Listen carefully!“, he finally launched to the Algerian public, “You must be proud to have the most beautiful country in the world… as a neighbor“. A cold shower that part of the public obviously did not expect.
