In 2019, Adèle Haenel accused Christophe Ruggia of sexual assault on a 15-year-old minor, by a person in authority. Facts which go back many years since the latter was 12 years old while he was 36. According to her statements, she suffered numerous touching and sexual violence. A few days ago, the director's trial opened before the Paris Criminal Court. For her part, Adèle Haenel was the guest of the show France Inter this Monday, December 16.
She took the opportunity to make a very noticed and important rant.
The news caused Adèle Haenel to react a lot. In addition to this trial, there was also that of Dominique Pélicot, accused of sexual assault on his unconscious wife. Facing Sonia Devillers, the actress raises her voice, making some very notable comments. “They are still there pretending they created us, but they are destroying us,” she said. Adèle Haenel then returned to the Mazan affair, stating in particular: “They don't care about committing these crimes, they don't want us to speak for ourselves and put the terms by saying that these are sexual assaults.”
Adèle Haenel: a very important rant
The actress absolutely wanted to be heard. In her speech, she notably returns to the fact that attackers tend to minimize the facts when they talk about them. According to him, they would not be aware of the seriousness of their actions until someone thought about it.
During the Mazan rape trial, many of the defendants said that, at the time, they did not think it was rape. Some even indicated that they were convinced that Gisèle Pélicot consented.
Adèle Haenel was very upset and she made it known.
“This is what we need to hear”, she said. The actress also returned to the Judith Godrèche affair.
“He stole her history, her youth. He tells himself the story he wants,” she declared before adding:
“When I say “it’s called sexual assault”, he is disgusted. They are disgusted that we put the terms”. A rant that caused a heavy silence.
Adèle Haenel: “It’s the concept of an aggression”
During the speech, Adèle Haenel recalls that the vast majority of attacks take place behind closed doors. This therefore encourages victims not to speak out. “What do we do with all these victims who have been behind the closed door with their attacker?” she asked before adding: “Then we tell them that they have to speak to the courts but the fact that the attacker closes the door is enough to create a sufficient basis for doubt, there are many people who do not speak.” For fear of not being heard, some victims opt for silence. As the actress recalls, it is the
“concept of an attack, of being able to close the door and isolate the victim”, she concluded.
