The world of Rouen antiques will gain national visibility on December 18, 2024. That day, a gallery owner from Rue Eau-de-Robec, Tristan Le Pors, will receive a “Marcus prize for young dealer , heritage player”, prize created by the professional union of the antiques market and sponsored by the presenter Stéphane Bern. The ceremony will take place at the Royal and Military College of Thiron-Gardaisin Eure-et-Loir, set bought and restored by the TV/radio host and defender of heritage.
Pre-Raphaelite painting and movement arts and crafts
Tristan Le Pors, 28 years old, has a background in art history. He intended either to become a professor or to work in heritage conservation – an environment where places are rare – but decided to open his own gallery. Originally from Brittany, with British originshe set his sights on Rouen, “a magnificent city, with a rich heritage, close to Paris and England”.
He first started his career as an art dealer without a gallery, then established himself in a small space on rue Malpalu, before opening his gallery in a more comfortable location at 233, rue Eau-de-Robec. It was four months ago. In parallel, Tristan Le Pors is professor of art history in Parisat the Institute of Advanced Studies of the Arts.
Rue Eau-de-Robec, in premises which previously housed an orthopedic practice, we find an eclectic collection of objects, paintings and furniture dating from 1850 to 1930.
“There are French things, but I like to take people on a journey, on the side of England, Belgium and Austriahe explains. I like things that are a little offbeat, dissident, I defend my taste: Pre-Raphaelite symbolic painting, travel paintings, movement arts and craftsetc. »
In his space, Tristan Le Pors pays particular attention to the staging of objects, to the hanging which is constantly evolving, just like what is presented in the window.
As part of the Marcus Prize, he defended a set of drawings by Paul Brandt, a 1930s jeweler/decorator.
Stéphane Bern, sponsor of the Marcus Prize
Asked by the union of antiques professionals about the meaning of his participation in the prize, Stéphane Bern explains: “At a time of seeking sustainable development, it is more necessary than ever to promote objects weathered by time, objects common or decorative which have a soul and to which antique dealers and second-hand dealers bring new life and allow their transmission to a new generation. I am happy to sponsor the Marcus Prize, because it encourages young antique dealers and second-hand dealers. whose vocation and commitment I want to salute. They certainly contribute to preserving this beautiful movable heritage which, without them, would disappear and the memories attached to it.”
Galerie Tristan Le Pors, 233, rue Eau-de-Robec in Rouen, open Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
