Well known in the town, Yvette Péchiné died, surrounded by her family, Saturday December 7, at the age of 93.
Born on February 27, 1931, in Saint-Michel, Yvette Bocquenet lived a happy youth with her parents and in the company of her brothers, James and Bernard. During the marriage of a cousin, she met Gilbert Bocquenet with whom she married, in Jorquenay, on October 17, 1955. From their union were born three daughters, Nadine, Marie-Claude and Karine. The family grew with the arrival of five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The couple led a hard-working life on the farm, working in the fields and caring for the animals. Then retirement time arrived, giving him more time and freedom. In Jorquenay, Yvette spent a lot of time in the garden, watching for the slightest weed and maintaining her plants. In January 2010, her husband Gilbert died, turning her whole life upside down. She then got into the habit of going around the canal, where she met people from the village with whom she talked about the weather. She also enjoyed visits from her neighbors. She also prepared waffles which she loved to share and was also very happy to receive her children and grandchildren for whom she prepared delicious dishes which simmered on the wood stove and perfumed the room. Then, the Covid epidemic came, with its constraints. It was a complicated time for her and her health began to decline. She had to decide to enter a retirement home in Colmar. Pampered by everyone, she was able to enjoy outings, one of which left her with a great memory: a train trip to Strasbourg organized by her grandson Hugo. After the religious ceremony celebrated by Father Henri Michel, in the Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption church, Thursday, December 12, Yvette Péchiné was buried in the Jorquenay cemetery where she now rests with her husband. To his family, we offer our condolences.
