Morgan Clémenceau, actress, director and teacher since 2007, is known for the company Dakatchiz, with which she and Léa Quinson, the leader of the theater classes for children and adults Dakateliers in Vibrac, tour a lot within a troupe with variable geometry, or in clown duos. We see her playing, as at ease in Molière – in alexandrines – as in outdoor ambulatory shows, for example for Funny Streets.
Until now, we know less about his love of burlesque theater. This gap will be filled, it is setting up the Kookies’ School in Jonzac, a school of burlesque expression, the first course of which will take place on January 19, 2025. The school has officially been a Jonzac association since October 22, 2024 with a Gironde president – Anne-Lise Sponsor since the creation of the Kookies’ School in Bordeaux in 2016 – and a Jonzac treasurer Élisabeth Bernard-Rambeaud, very invested in the cultural life of the town.
Château Theater and village hall
The story of the Kookies’ School began in Bordeaux, when the young actress met the “Bordeaux collective burlesque” troupe. “They needed a mistress of ceremonies, I went for it, I created the character of Miss Kookie, the audience loved it,” remembers Morgane. At the request of very participatory spectators, she created the Kookies’ School, with weekly classes and an artist once a month. In 2019, she acquired a house a few meters from Jonzac town hall and settled there. Then the back and forth between Jonzac and Bordeaux became too restrictive, she put the school on hold in 2023.
If its network extends to Bordeaux, Saintes or La Rochelle, “Jonzac is my center” says Morgane. The Kookies’ School is reborn in Jonzac for those over 18, with the Château theater and the village hall as its setting, with a course of two or three hours per month, with specialized artists. The program is established and the rooms reserved until June and, as a single mother, Morgane provides a nanny on site for the trainees (1).
A playground
“I love it, it’s very liberating this way of expressing yourself without complexes, without it hurting anyone. I want to offer a playground for adults,” continues the actress. She already has reservations. On January 19, from 2 to 4 p.m., Prêle Mainfroy will give the first class. A professional dancer from Montendre, she was engaged in two neoclassical companies in Germany. Returning to France, she headed to the cabaret, joining the troupe of the Music Hall L’Ange Bleu, where she still dances.
Continuation of the program: February 16: Hula-Hoop with Sophie Piveteau; March 16: Totouyoucours (kitsch and humorous aerobics) with Léa N’Kaoua; April 13: Roller dance with Abygaëlle Jamain; May 18: Lindy Hop with Swing social club; 1is June: Burlesque stripping with Chouchou l’Amoureuse.
