The star of The Bear joins the universe imagined by George Lucas. The one who will soon star in a Bruce Springsteen biopic will lend his voice to the son of Jabba the Hutt.
Jeremy Allen White continues to diversify his roles. The star of The Bearwho just filmed a Bruce Springsteen biopic, has signed on to play Rotta, the son of Jabba the Hutt, in the spinoff film Star Wars The Mandalorian & Grogureports Variety.
The actor, who was rewarded at the last Emmy ceremony for The Bearwill lend his voice to this character who has already appeared in the series Clone Wars. He will opposite Pedro Pascal, aka the Mandalorian, and Sigourney Weaver.
The story of The Mandalorian & Grogu is currently kept secret. We just know that it will be a continuation of the series The Mandalorianwhich follows the galaxy-spanning adventures of a mute bounty hunter and Grogu, a creature of Yoda’s species.
After Jabba’s death
The Mandalorian takes place after the events recounted in Return of the Jedi. In this film released in 1983, Jabba the Hutt is killed by Princess Leia. Rotta could therefore be at the center of this new sequel.
The Mandalorian like its spin-off series The Book of Boba Fett discusses how Jabba’s death allowed organized crime to proliferate on the planet Tatooine before Boba Fett got his hands on it.
Announced for May 2026, The Mandalorian & Grogu will be directed by Jon Favreau, who wrote the film with series co-creator Dave Filoni. This is the first film Star Wars to come out since L’Ascension de Skywalker in 2019.
