From the rock of Muse to the metal of Korn via Linkin Park, Hellfest unveiled on Monday the poster for its 18th edition, which will be held from June 19 to 22 in Clisson, in the west of France.
The presence of Muse, a British alternative rock group, among the headliners of this edition, shows that the festival, a flagship event for extreme music, continues to broaden its boundaries to target an ever more varied audience.
Matthew Bellamy and his musicians may seem wise alongside other more angry names in this lineup, but the classics “New Born” or “Knights of Cydonia” promise good energy on stage.
A link between hardrock and metal, with the hint of rap that characterizes it, Linkin Park will also perform in Clisson, in the middle of the vineyards of this region. The American group, dormant since the death of its leader Chester Bennington, is experiencing a second wind since the arrival this year of the powerful Emily Armstrong on vocals, a new album (“From Zero”) and a world tour.
In total, “more than 180 artists” are expected: the cult groups Korn and Scorpions, Eagles of death metal or even Cypress Hill and the French group Ultra Vomit. The Sex Pistols will also be there with Franck Carter, replacing historic singer John Lydon.
Till Lindemann, the singer of Rammstein, the German-speaking group with the most albums sold in the world, was also announced. He had been suspected of sexually assaulting female fans after concerts, but, in August 2023, the Berlin public prosecutor’s office closed the investigation.
Like previous editions, music fans did not wait for the program to be revealed to rush to the ticket office: 55,000 festival-goers grabbed four-day passes in record time.
Hellfest, one of the biggest metal festivals in Europe, known for its tough line-up, but also for its enormous sets and its atmosphere, welcomes around 60,000 people per day.
