An exhibition to revisit the collection of the Lambert Collection in Avignon, between classics, detours and invitations.
By choosing the title “Alchemy of the encounter” for its new exhibition, designed mainly from the collection, the Lambert Collection in Avignon clearly expresses the link which unites the collector and the artist, but also what unites the visitor and the work, this little nothing, this moment, this spark which can light up a minute, a day, a life.
In a stroll that follows the labyrinthine route of the museum, each room evokes a memory, a fidelity, a link with literature and the history of art and here and there, openings, side steps, playful and poetic winks. In short, something to delight those who discover this collection, as well as those who have been visiting it for two decades.
A poetic labyrinth
All the big names who have accompanied the career of the gallery owner Yvon Lambert are there, Cy Twombly, Anselm Kiefer, Robert Combas, Nan Goldin, Douglas Gordon… But sprinkled throughout the rooms, sensitive invitations, small fragments illuminate the journey of a new light. Bursts of intelligence with a manuscript by Roland Barthes, bursts of color with an astonishing rainbow by Richard Long reactivated for the first time since 1969 or bursts of revolt with the representation of a prison by Nicolas Daubanes…
The stimulating and charming journey keeps at its heart, a little treasure, a new stage of the Our Museum project, in which people in reintegration appropriate contemporary art and its institutions, to share them with joy and delight.
