End clap for the 7th edition of the Atlas Workshops organized by the Marrakech International Film Festival.
After a week of intensive workshops and exciting professional and artistic meetings, the winners proudly collected their prizes. Like Moly Kane, Senegalese director of the film Here restswhich won the third Atlas prize for development, from Charlotte Rabane for her film Samir, spy in spite of himselfas well as Fabien Dao, director behind the film Princess Ténéwinner of the first prize for development.
Linda Lô’s first fiction, entitled Lucky Girl, won second prize in this category, which she received with great gratitude: “It’s an autobiographical film that takes place in three stages, it’s an immigration journey. I feel very happy, because already, even if I had not won a prize, I had an extraordinary week, there was synergy, understanding and a lot of joy. I love listening to other people’s projects, I learned a lot, we had an exceptional sponsor. »rejoiced the Senegalese director.
Morad Mostafa, Egyptian director, was also distinguished at the Atlas Workshops, winning the prize for post-production with his film Aïsha Can’t Fly : “The film tells the story of Aïsha, a young Sudanese woman who lives in a neighborhood in the heart of Cairo, where she works as a caregiver for elderly patients. Every day, she goes from house to house to serve patients. We’re following his journey through all of this… We’re in the post-production phase, we’ve met a lot of people from the industry, distributors, producers. It’s intense but it’s incredible”indicated the Egyptian director.
-The winners and the jury did not fail to welcome the selection of participants for the 2024 edition, due in part to the choices of the head of the Ateliers de l’Atlas, Hédi Zardi.
“I had immense pleasure reading these stories, it was important to welcome them at the right time, at a time when they could be receptive to the support we wanted to provide them, and also to create a group. There is a dynamic that must be created between these projects, so that they can dialogue with each other to mutually support each other over the duration of the workshops”explained Hédi Zardi.
The program of Atlas Workshopsdedicated to the development of young African talents, comes directly from the Marrakech International Film Festival. The Atlas Distribution Awards are intended to facilitate the release and distribution of the winners’ films in Arab and African countries, but also internationally.
