First step leading, for the best, to the next Grand Prix de la Ville de Nice – Prix Bernard Sécly (Gr.III), the Prix Jean Gailly de Taurines offered an interesting first squad review this Friday in Cagnes-sur-Mer . By far the most successful in the specialty, the winner of the Prix des Drags 2023 Faroe Islands made an expected return to competition, but was unable to do anything against a King David unleashed, who established himself as a boss for his discovery of the Cagnois steeplechase. In his characteristic style, the resident of Mickaël Seror leads the event at a good pace, before leaving easily to finish, winning strongly. His jockey, Felix de Giles, had a lot of fun: “If we only had horses like him it would be simpler! He is a top horse, very professional and with good balance. He is such a good jumper that the steeplechase suits him perfectly. I’m not worried about the lengthening of the distance given its action.” Good second, Faroe Islands makes a comeback which delights David Cottin: “She was perfect, not taking it hard. She will logically improve in condition and will be better over longer distances. If the ground were to soften it would be to its advantage but be careful, King David is a great horse. He made an impression on me today and will be one hell of a customer in the “belle” next month.”
