Yero Isaac, the musical revelation of 2023 returns in force next week

Unknown to the general public, Yéro Isaac entered music in September 2022 and established himself as the revelation of the year 2023 in Senegal. Young and ambitious, Yéro likes to take on challenges and always seeks perfection. In record time, this multicultural artist released hits widely appreciated by music lovers. In this interview with Senego, he looks back on his journey and promises surprises for music lovers.

1- Who is Yéro Isaac and what influenced you to get into music?
My name is Yéro, young artist and final year master’s student in marketing in . I have always loved music and listen to a lot of it. I have been inspired by many artists like Michael Jackson, Pop Smoke, Dadju, Dip and Samba Peuzzi.

2- Is it easy to reconcile the life of an artist with that of a student?
It’s very difficult, because I work in parallel to finance my music. But we must persevere: “kou beug am dara dey def dara”. My duet with the artist Ame Bongo, entitled “Rèwwww”, allowed me to be revealed to the Senegalese public last year, and since then, I have evolved a lot.

3- Is the opus “Maak Yawla” with Dieyla a single or an extract from an album?
(Laughs…) It’s an extract from the best Senegalese album of the year, in my opinion. I took a year of singing lessons, and that is reflected in my new productions. There is a clear difference between my first pieces and those I offer today.

4- Why did you choose to start on the music scene with duets? Are you afraid to go solo?
No way. I have always worked solo and this is not my first duo. However, I wanted to show that I am comfortable in Wolof by collaborating with a great Senegalese artist like Dieyla. For me, being a great global artist without having won over the Senegalese public is not a success. Additionally, I wanted to show my versatility. In today’s world, you have to know how to adapt. Our generation is multicultural and no longer necessarily needs international collaborations to shine: we are already international.

5- Can we hope for other collaborations with Dip, Samba Peuzzi, Dadju, Viviane, Wally or Pape Diouf?
Everything is possible in music. My project is coming, a new era of Senegalese urban pop is being born. I ask the public to prepare themselves. The album will be released on December 12, and this winter promises to be full of surprises.
