“It’s a project that shakes up habits. A big party full of discoveries,” is how Emmanuel Richard describes the Grand Bain festival organized by the Acoustic Attack association, of which he is president. A music festival on February 13, 14 and 15, 2025, on the occasion of the annual emptying of the Foch swimming pool in Brest, is “every year a challenge”, he says. After four editions, it almost became “too easy”. So the association gave itself a new challenge: not one, not two, but three festival evenings!
Un « grand panel musical »
“It’s an in-between moment that allows residents to be irrigated by art and culture,” remarks Salami Réza, deputy mayor in charge of culture. With 800 seats sold in four hours since the ticket office opened yesterday, it is also a moment awaited by the public. “People come first for the place and the project, and not necessarily for the programming,” explains Emmanuel Richard, even if the latter is far from being neglected.
The strength of the Grand Bain Festival, supported by the Acoustic Attack association, is to “allow for large deviations and small side steps in production. It’s a first scene for quite a few artists, but also a first time for many others in a swimming pool,” smiles Emmanuel Richard. With, for example, Swooh and Yuksek, the Grand Bain festival retains, like previous editions, accents of electronic music. While joining forces with other musical genres, ranging from house to rock, represented by the Groove Boys or Astels. This “big musical panel” will perform on the stage of the Grand Bain festival at the Foch swimming pool on February 13, 14 and 15, 2025 from 6:30 p.m. to 2 a.m., in front of around 750 spectators expected per evening.
“A public that is quite wise”
“A hundred volunteers over the week, associations, and partners” came together to organize the Grand Bain festival at a total cost of 80,000 euros. As for reservations, the Acoustic Attack association has “decided” not to increase the rate, which has been set at €19 per evening for several years, but does not offer a pass. “There will be a large security and emergency system,” says Emmanuel Richard, “and we have a public that is quite wise.” This could be explained by the choice to set up a water bar and to make non-alcoholic drinks free during the three evenings. The Grand Bain festival also stands out with an original decoration, linked this year to the kraken on the poster, and with parallel spaces, some of which are dedicated to relaxation, karaoke and many others.
