The concerts of Ma region virtuoso, a regional classical music festival, were to take place in January 2025. But the Region having announced the reduction in its subsidies to cultural actors and actions, the City of Saint-Nazaire decided to retaliate : she is withdrawing from the 2025 edition of Ma Région virtuose.

In a letter addressed to the president, Christelle Morançais, Mayor David Samzun explains this choice “in the context of budget cuts announced by the Region”. “Your choices are clear, he writes. The Region abandons culture in the territories, but retains its communication tools which showcase it, such as My Virtuoso Region . It is the same logic which is deployed between the abandonment of local Missions and the preservation of the regional event. Big Bang of employment. »

Michel Ray, deputy mayor in charge of culture, agrees: “It was incompatible to blame the drastic cuts in subsidies and to promote the Region through concerts. The decision is in no way aimed at these musical aesthetics, it is indeed a political decision. »

The City financed 50% of the January concerts, or around €50,000 for three days of concerts in different places in the city. Without revealing the program, the deputy mayor announced the organization of a classical music event next January. “We want to honor this appointment, the public does not have to suffer this damage. We are working on a replacement proposal. »
