A major new recruit. Elevated to international stardom for her role as Daenerys Targaryen in the award-winning fiction “Game of Thrones,” Emilia Clarke is set to star in a new series.

The 37-year-old actress will soon play the title role in “Criminal,” Variety revealed on Wednesday, July 10. She joins Charlie Hunnam (“Sons of Anarchy”), previously announced, who will play one of the other main characters in this series that will tell the story of several generations of families linked by crimes of the past.

A daring thief

Emilia Clarke will play “a cunning and daring armed robber” named Mallory, the American magazine specifies. The latter belongs to a gang of robbers and is depicted as “a woman on the tightrope, living on the wrong side of the law and hiding secrets that will bring her and her entire team into the danger zone.”

Currently in development, the series will be broadcast on Prime Video. It is an adaptation of the graphic novels “Criminal”, by the duo Sean Phillips, illustrator, and Ed Brubaker, writer.

Ed Brubaker, who is one of the most sought-after screenwriters in American entertainment, having notably worked on the screenplay for “Westworld”, will also co-direct the series, reports Variety.

In addition to Emilia Clarke and Charlie Hunnam, the series also stars Richard Jenkins (“Dahmer”) and Adria Arjona (“Hit Man”).
