As part of the Autan festival, on Thursday July 18, in the church of La Salvetat des Carts at 9 p.m., cellist Marie Ythier will perform for a “Journey into Modern Antiquity” with works by Bach, Scelsi, Niami, Saariho.

For this edition, the Autan festival offers the pleasure of rediscovering the historical route of the event but also new gems of local heritage. Woven across three departments, the network of event partners, public, private, and conservation associations continues to expand. The summer edition will also have several echoes throughout the year in new candidate municipalities. Get together around traditions, with friends, create links across the region! Several great evenings are expected; in homage to pastel, the country’s blue gold with the Euroccitanie Chamber Orchestra, the neighboring Abbaye de Beaulieu-en-Rouergue on Saturday July 20 for the closing of the event. Cellist Marie Ythier will be honored with her presence for a concert in Najac. A classical musician, but also committed to a creative approach with composers of her generation, cellist Marie Ythier already has five albums to her credit, including Une Rencontre, around the works of R. Schumann and T. Murail (Divine Art Recordings, Naxos 2019), which has received praise from the international press. Trained with Anne Gastinel, Miklos Perenyi, Philippe Muller, Gary Hoffmann and Heinrich Schiff, she is regularly invited to prestigious venues (Philharmonie de Paris, Auditorium de Dijon, etc.) and performs as a soloist all over the world (Kuhmo Festival, FIMC Lima, Suona Francese Italia, Festival Messiaen au Pays de la Meije, CMMAS in Morelia, CENART in Mexico, Luzern KKL, etc.). Marie Ythier regularly works with composers such as Ivo Malec, Gilbert Amy, Tristan Murail, Pierre Boulez… and is already the dedicatee of about twenty pieces written for her. She often joins English, Italian, German ensembles, and plays as a soloist under the direction of renowned conductors (P. Boulez, P. Csaba, C. Power…). Passionate about transmission, she is a guest professor at the National Conservatory of Lima, and gives masterclasses in France, Asia, and Latin America. Marie Ythier, through her varied musical experiences, is an artist whose eclecticism and open-mindedness are revealed in the particular interest she has for new music. She also willingly approaches the repertoire of all periods, in chamber music as well as as a soloist.
