Antonin Dvořák will be on the program for the new concert of the Jura Chamber Choir. The vocal ensemble will present the Czech composer’s Mass in D major. He will perform from December 20 to 22, first in Erschwil (8 p.m.), in the canton of Solothurn, then at the church in Courroux (8 p.m.) and at the temple in Porrentruy (5 p.m.). He will be accompanied on the organ by Jura native Loïc Burki. “It is a mass that is very rarely performed. It has beautiful sounds and beautiful lines with dancing elements,” notes the conductor. Mark Kölliker is delighted to offer this work to audiences in the region.
Around thirty singers will be mobilized for this concert, a handful of whom come from the universities of Basel, Zurich and Lugano. Mark Kölliker, himself a professor of choral conducting, makes it a point of honor to welcome students to train them. “They are students of solo singing, choral conducting and orchestral conducting and they will be able to partially direct during the concerts.” During rehearsals, Mark Kölliker will also distill his know-how. He also believes that the Jura Chamber Choir benefits from the presence of these young people to progress by being confronted with other ways of conducting. “It’s always very rewarding.” /ncp
