The list of 52 titles competing for the adult section of the Prix des libraires du Québec is now known.

Among the 12 titles selected in the Quebec novel-short story-story category are: Asbestosby Sébastien Dulude (La Peuplade), who is also in the running for the Literary Prize for college students; Glass peopleby Catherine Leroux (High); The ocean’s shareby Dominique Fortier (Viola); Before burningby Virginie DeChamplain (La Peuplade); Snow trailsby Kev Lambert (Heliotrope) ; The irreparableby Pierre Samson (Heliotrope); I work in noiseby Yannick Marcoux (XYZ); Hexaby Gabrielle Filteau-Chiba (XYZ); I ask you to close your eyes and imagine a quiet placeby Michelle Lapierre-Dallaire (La Mèche); Like a long tank crashby Joël Martel (La Mèche); The mirror maskby Jean-Simon DesRochers (Boréal); And The summer of angerby Elizabeth Lemay (Boréal).

In the same category outside Quebec were chosen among others the Renaudot prize Jacarandaby Gaël Faye (Grasset), the Femina Prize The Jaguar’s Dreamby Miguel Bonnefoy (Rivages), the Goncourt prize for high school students Madelaine before dawnby Sandrine Collette (JC Lattès). Pour Britneyby Louise Chennevière (POL), and Crying at the supermarketby Michelle Zauner (Christian Bourgois) are also among the 12 titles chosen.

In the Quebec tests, we find in particular Out of playby Florence-Agathe Dubé-Moreau (Remue-ménage), who won the Governor General’s Literary Award last month, as well asGarbage !by Simon Paré-Poupart (Lux).

Pietà fearby Nicholas Dawson (Noroît), was selected in the poetry category alongside Our Lady of all maybesby Dominique Fortier (Du Passage), among a selection of eight titles.

Six titles were also selected in the Quebec comics category, including Secret passages, Volume 1: Trompe-l’oeilby Axelle Lenoir (Pow Pow), and Dédéby Christian Quesnel (Libre Expression), as well as six other titles in the same category outside Quebec.

The 24 finalist titles will be revealed on February 13, while the winners will be awarded during the annual Gala of the Prix des libraires du Québec in May, following an electronic vote by all the province’s booksellers. The Prize of Excellence from the Association of Booksellers of Quebec (ALQ) will also be awarded on this occasion to honor the exceptional work of a bookseller.
