This is the story of a student engaged in law studies who, just after obtaining her master’s degree at Sciences Po, decides to change direction. To take a tangent. No! She will not take the exams to become a lawyer. There are more urgent matters. At 23, Isabel Del Real wants to see the country, travel far, live the great adventure. It’s decided, she leaves her native Brittany by bike to go to… Iran. In February 2021, the borders open and close according to the Covid fever outbreaks. Our former future lawyer sets off on a journey of nearly 15,000 kilometers across Europe and the Middle East.

Ten months on the Silk Road

In a nice comic strip called ” Plouhéran » published by Delcourt, Isabelle del Real recounts this ten-month journey on the Silk Road through the Caucasian passes, then through the Balkans to Tehran. With humor and sensitivity, she shares the encounters, the discoveries, the fears, the moments of fulfillment but also the questions that cross her mind: why leave when she no longer knows where she is going? What drives her to go every day chasing the horizon line, the next forest, the next pass, the next sea?
