It's been several weeks since the mobile game Pokémon Pocket was finally released on iOS and Android. Since then, players have continued to use their Booster Hourglasses to open packages as quickly as possible. But shouldn’t we actually save them for later?

Hourglass boosters, the crux of the matter on Pokémon Pocket

It was eagerly awaited by all those who were nostalgic for the years when they collected Pokémon cards, the mobile game JCC Pokémon Pocket was finally released on iOS and Android a month ago now. Thanks to the latter, millions of players have been able to reconnect with their childhood passion without the hassle of a binder, a pile of duplicates or any other problem. However, when you can open booster cards so easily, it's hard to hold back. Basically, Pokémon Pocket allows you to open 1 booster every 12 hours, or 2 boosters per day. But if you are in a hurry, you can of course reduce this downtime.

As in all games of this genre, it is in fact possible to reduce the waiting time between two booster openings thanks to a very precious object: the Booster hourglasses. Once you collect 12 of these, you can then use them to instantly open a booster pack. To collect them, you have to complete missions, increase your level, or buy them with real money using the in-game store. But while most players use their Hourglasses as soon as they have enough, others save them for a specific purpose.

Why saving your Booster Hourglasses might be a good idea

If you like to open boosters as often as possible, you probably count your number of Booster Hourglasses until you have 12 in order to use them immediately. However, some players feel that it would actually be better to save them for later. On Reddit, for example, you can find a player who was patient enough to accumulate 1000, which should allow him to open more than 80 boosters at once. Why do this? Quite simply because new cards are coming.

And yes, if you have followed Pokémon Pocket news, you know that brand new boosters expected to arrive at the end of 2024. So far, players can only choose between three different boosters that correspond to the same expansion: Genetic Power. But by the end of December, new boosters should arrive with new cards inside. In order to be able to recover as much as possible in a minimum of time, many players therefore start to save their Hourglasses to be able to use them at this time. Note also that it is also likely that the new cards will shake up the meta in terms of best decks for the fight. If you're interested in this part of the game, then you might be better off saving up your Hourglasses so you can grab the new best cards when they come out.
