In the blaze of the Perpignan music scene with the double disc “Perpignan Burning”

A double compilation that will end up at the foot of the tree… And burn it down. This is the double vinyl “ Burning”, a non-exhaustive summary of electricity made , here in Perpignan. It really shines!

Two good news for fans of vinyl and the fertile rock scene in the Pyrénées-Orientales. This “Perpignan Burning” like a temporal fault in this musical scene which sends the sauce by burning everything in analogue and, to celebrate the event, this double concert on December 20 and 21 at the Nautilus in Perpignan, with six groups participating in the comp. In fact, one of the two gangsters in the project is none other than Briane Blanc. Marrow of this scene as a musician (The Hands and The Madcap Dreams) and sound engineer of the 27 groups compiled around this auditory bang. As a pretty news presenter would say: “it’s Christmas before its time”. Better than the brief originality of the subject, the 27 groups extract a biting title from their repertoire and some record an unreleased track for the occasion, before the upcoming album.

Germanic flair

The second intrepid is Markus Detmer. This German artist, producer, boss of the Teutonic label, Staubgold, and manager of the Perpignan record store Cougouyou, is knowledgeable about the often uncontrollable movements of the Catalan scene. His Germanic flair and his great professionalism provide eminent services to the rock tribe. It is he, via his labels Staubgold and Cougouyou Music, his local twin version, who will distribute from New York to Tokyo and from Berlin to Madrid the two-headed slap of this “Perpignan Burning” with in addition, the hat of Executive Producer. The older ones undoubtedly remember the compilation “Back From the Canigo”, the series of ten unique and black 45s released by Markus and the Comelade albums “Velvet Serenade”, the Llamps, Minerves, which he defended within its indie infrastructure.

Double insult to good morals

We cannot name the 27 groups selected after tough negotiations, but the majority have already appeared in our columns: Le Gori, Johnny Tramuntana, The Hands, Henry, Santa Maria Death Trip, The Madcap Dreams, Lost Station, Hugo Riché, The Humanist Impasse… In this almost incestuous scene where everyone meets, marries, divorces, the breed can only be libertine. Psychedelic rock, prog, garage, pop, postpunk, including two pieces in Catalan resisting this Franco-English sound jungle, have their little brother in print for the occasion. A fanzine sold for 5 euros, which accompanies this descent into Gehenna with suggestive reading. And what can we say about this cover that hits the mark. No need for a signature, as the decadent style appears like a Des Esseintes from the best pen of Karl Huysmans. Comelade and his brushes are as broken as his records are essential to all good psychopaths. One more reason to pay 25 bucks for this double outrage against good morals.
