The Minister of Culture announced, Friday, November 29, the creation of a label for nightclubs so that they can be recognized as real cultural players, reports BFMTV.
A symbol of quality. Soon, a “Club culture” label will identify nightclubs which actively support artistic creation and DJs, Minister of Culture Rachida Dati announced on Friday, November 29. “It’s important that we have this recognition.”explained the member of the executive from the Mazette club located in the 12th arrondissement of the capital in the presence of Aurélien Antonini, the president of the Culture nuit professional union, reports BFMTV. In addition to supporting artists, this new label which will adorn certain nightlife establishments should also make it possible to identify clubs working in the fight against harassment and sexist and sexual violence.
While for the moment the criteria for awarding this new designation to nightclubs have not yet been defined, the latter must make it possible to bring “support, influence, attractiveness and protection” to the clubs which will carry it, further detailed Rachida Dati. With this announcement, the Minister of Culture has thus vindicated the case of night professionals who have been campaigning for more than three years to be recognized as distinct cultural actors whole.
Establishments listed in an online directory
Created with a view to promoting the role of clubs in artistic discovery, several elements will be necessary to allow night establishments to obtain this label. Among them, audience accessibility and even parity in programming are key figures.
Awarded for a period of three years, places which meet the criteria established by the Ministry of Culture will therefore be given the right to display the designation “Culture Clubs – places of artistic expression and celebration”. As for their referencing to allow the public to make a choice on night establishments with the label to go to, an online directory accessible directly on the website of the Ministry of Culture will be set up.
