A few months before its launch, Rita Baga’s first album continues to take shape. The drag queen launched the second extract on Friday, a cover of the classic Sunglasses at Night, popularized by Corey Hart in 1984.

“Beyond its musicality, the lyrics of this piece can have several meanings, notably on how one can be perceived by others via their different narrative biases. A way to reclaim your history and see the light even if you face darkness,” explains Rita Baga in a press release.

This second song follows It’s youa first original title launched with great fanfare last spring. The Montreal drag queen is currently working on a musical tour project, entitled Spraynetwhich she will tour across the province starting next February. The accompanying album is expected during the winter.

Twice finalist on the show Canada’s Drag RaceRita Baga revealed her singing talents on the set of Masked singerslast year. Under the lion’s mane, the drag queen made it to the final thanks to titles borrowed from Mario Pelchat, Céline Dion and Ginette Reno, to name a few.

“I’ve been dreaming of a career in music for several years. But I had to take the time to find my sound, my musical identity,” she confided to Journal a few months ago.
