Is this the most expensive bite in history? Buyer for 6 million euros of a work of art consisting of a banana taped to a wall, a man kept his promise and ate the fruit.

In a luxury hotel in Hong Kong, Justin Sun, Chinese-American entrepreneur and founder of the cryptocurrency platform Tron, devoured the banana in front of dozens of journalists and influencers.

“It’s much better than other bananas,” he said after calling it an iconic work of art.

A banana taped to the wall

The work consists of a banana hanging on a wall with a piece of silver tape. Entitled “Comedian”, it was created by the provocative Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan. It was sold last week for $6.2 million (5.5 million francs) at an auction.

Justin Sun said he felt disbelief after winning the sale. He then decided to eat the banana during a press conference, because “it can also be part of the history of this work of art.”
