In 2013, Dolph Ziggler cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase on Alberto Del Rio during the episode of RAW following WrestleMania 29.
In an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Ricardo Rodriguez, former manager of Alberto Del Rio, revealed that Dolph Ziggler was originally supposed to cash in his briefcase at WrestleMania. However, WWE has apparently changed their plans.
“It was amazing. Especially because I know it was originally planned to be done during WrestleMania, and then they ended up moving it to the day after. Looking back, I’m glad they did it. choice because I think it was a little unexpected What was also great was this false finish in the match where Dolph does the Famouser and he pins… one, two, release.
Alberto places an Enzugiri and I think he ends up doing an Arm Bar. Since Dolph had been fooled so many times, everyone reacted. It was magnificent. When he placed the Zig Zag and the three count came, the explosion in the arena was so incredible. It was a moment where I think everyone was genuinely happy for Dolph.”
If Dolph Ziggler had cashed in his briefcase at WrestleMania, he would have become the first to do so during that event, beating Seth Rollins by two years.
