At the same time a springboard, a place of learning, a gateway to cinema, a breeding ground for encounters, the short film is considered in many respects as a laboratory and a field for exploring possibilities without too much commercial pressure from the of certain essential players in the film industry, starting with producers and distributors.
While the opportunity, particularly for overseas directors, to shoot a feature film is becoming increasingly rare, budding creators and the talents of tomorrow are turning more to short films which have become real playgrounds. Consequence : short film festivals abound everywhere. A wave on which the Saint-Pierre short film festival has been riding since 2016, initiated by the Films du quai association and at the origin of which is Armand Dauphin, Reunion producer and director of film festivals in Reunion, major organizer of this festival.

This short film festival in Saint-Pierre, capital of the south of Reunion Island, but also the capital of cinema with in particular the International Cinema Festival which has just celebrated its 30thth edition, is in its 9thth edition.
