With an impressive total of 58 scheduled groups and more than 500 artists from 35 countries and a participation of more than 1,200 professionals from more than 80 countries, the 11th edition of Visa For Music which was held in Rabat, from 20 to 23 November 2024, was the scene of meetings between the different players in the African and international music industry.
The 11th edition of Visa For Music, organized in partnership with the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication and the regional council of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra, was held in Rabat, from November 20 to 23, 2024, in a vibrant atmosphere where diversity and musical creativity were in the spotlight, announce the organizers. “With an impressive total of 58 groups scheduled and more than 500 artists from 35 countries and a participation of more than 1,200 professionals from more than 80 countries, this edition was the scene of meetings between the different actors of the African music industry and international,” it says. Visa For Music 2024 brought together prestigious delegations, notably from Cape Verde, Ethiopia, Kenya, South Africa, Liberia, Senegal, Ivory Coast, and other African countries, but also networks such as Accès Culture, Arterial Network or Arts Connect Africa, and institutions such as Sodec, Live Nation, or the National Art Council of South Africa, as well as the directors and programmers of more than 100 major festivals in the world.
According to the same source, the 11th Visa For Music saw the organization of 10 conferences and panels which enriched intellectual exchanges around global musical issues, 14 training workshops and master classes, dedicated to supporting young artists and cultural actors. , enabled more than 500 participants to strengthen their skills. Likewise, the edition was marked by the organization of 800 speed meetings which opened up prospects for unprecedented collaborations between artists, festival programmers and other professionals in the sector.
Furthermore, the edition attracted more than 12,000 spectators, dazzled by captivating performances. “This demonstrated the growing success of this event, at the Mohammed V national theater, at the La Renaissance cinema, at the Salle Bahnini and at Chellah.” This edition was also marked by a push towards increased cultural diversity, bringing together artists from multiple backgrounds: from Africa, the Pacific, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the Americas. Everyone celebrated a musical richness without borders, driven by values of sharing, tolerance and creativity.
