This is not the first and it will undoubtedly not be the last: Josh Brolin has just proclaimed his admiration for Denis Villeneuve and his film “Dune 2”. He hopes the director will be rewarded for his work.
Josh Brolin did not go out of his way to give his full support to Denis Villeneuve. After emphasizing how much he loved the second part of the “Dune” saga, the man who plays the role of Gurney Halleck in the film used a huge punchline to praise director Denis Villeneuve.
Josh Brolin admitted that, in his opinion, “Dune: Part II was a better film than the first.” He explained that when he watched the film, he felt like his “brain was in turmoil.” He continues: “It’s great, Denis is one of our best directors. If academic awards mean anything at all, they’re going to reward him.”
Going further in his speech, the star of “Sicario” and “Avengers: Infinity War” said with humor: “if he is not nominated this year, I will end my career.” The actor still does not seem to have recovered from the absence of the Canadian director from the 2022 list, for the first “Dune”.
A few days before this statement from Josh Brolin, Denis Villeneuve was also able to count on the compliments of the previous winner of the best director category at the Oscars (for “Oppenheimer”): Christopher Nolan. He notably highlighted the work of adaptation that the film benefits from: “I watched the second part and I think it’s a miraculous work of adaptation, which takes this second part and makes it an incredible conclusion to the history”.
